1. Introduction

MindScribe ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our mobile application.

2. Data Collection

We DO NOT collect any personal data. MindScribe operates entirely on your device with no backend servers or cloud storage.

3. Data Storage

All your data is stored locally on your device using SQLite database:

• ✅ Diary entries are saved on your device only
• ✅ Reminders are stored locally
• ✅ Settings and preferences are saved locally
• ✅ Categories and tags are stored on your device

Important: If you uninstall the app, all your data will be deleted. We recommend backing up important entries manually.

4. Permissions

MindScribe requests the following permissions:

🎤 Microphone Permission

• Why: Used only for voice-to-text input when you tap the microphone button
• When: Only when you actively use the voice input feature
• Data: Audio is processed by Google's speech recognition service and is not stored

🔔 Notification Permission

• Why: To send reminder alerts for your scheduled diary entries
• When: Only when you set reminders
• Data: Notifications are created locally on your device

💾 Storage Permission

• Why: To save your diary entries in the local database
• When: Automatically when you create or edit entries
• Data: All data stays on your device

⏰ Alarm & Schedule Exact Alarm

• Why: To trigger reminders at the exact time you set
• When: When you create reminders
• Data: Alarms are scheduled locally

5. Third-Party Services

MindScribe uses the following third-party services:

Google Speech Recognition (Voice Input)

• When you use voice-to-text, audio is sent to Google's speech recognition service
• This is processed according to Google's Privacy Policy
• Audio is not stored by us or Google after processing
• You can disable voice input in settings if you prefer not to use this feature

Google Text-to-Speech (TTS)

• When reminders fire, text is converted to speech using your device's TTS engine
• This happens locally on your device
• No data is sent to external servers

6. Data Security

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

• ✅ Your device's security protects your data
• ✅ Use device lock (PIN, pattern, fingerprint) for additional security
• ✅ No risk of data breaches from our servers (we don't have any)
• ✅ Your diary is as secure as your device

7. Children's Privacy

MindScribe does not knowingly collect information from children under 13 years of age. The app is suitable for all ages and does not collect any personal information from any users.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

• Posting the new Privacy Policy in the app
• Updating the "Last updated" date
• Notifying users through app updates

9. Your Rights

Since we don't collect your data, you have complete control:

• ✅ You can delete entries anytime
• ✅ You can uninstall the app to remove all data
• ✅ You can disable permissions in device settings

MindScribe is open source software. You can review our code to verify our privacy claims:
